Glow Study 2019

Glucose Lowering through Weight Management

Our Practice is supporting a new project and we would like you to have the opportunity to be involved.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge are running a new study comparing two different ways of helping people with diabetes to improve their health.

To be eligible you have to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the last 3 years and not already completed Desmond course.

If you choose to take part in the study you will be allocated to one of two treatment programmes that have been shown to help people with type 2 diabetes and reduce their risk of other illnesses such as heart disease. This trial is comparing these treatment programmes to see which one works better than the other.

If you are interested in finding out more, then please contact the GLoW study team on 0800 783 4611 (free from landlines and mobiles) or email:

The GLoW team will be able to talk you through what the study involves and answer any questions you might have.

Taking part in this study is entirely voluntary; you can choose whether or not to become involved. If you decide not to take part, this will not affect the usual care provided by your GP.

As a thank you for taking part, you will receive a £10 high street voucher for attending the first two visits and a £30 high street voucher for the 12 month visit. We will also reimburse the cost of your travel to and from your GP practice.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to take advantage of this new and exciting opportunity.
