Practice Policies & Patient Information
GP Net Earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
BDO Accountants have calculated that the average pay for GP’s working at Longshore Surgeries in the last financial year was £79,405.00 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 2 full time GP’s and 4 part time GP’s who have worked in the Practice for more than six months.
However, it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time Doctors spend working in the Practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other Practice.
Online Access to Medical Records
Most patients aged 16+ will now be able to use the NHS App to see anything that is added to their GP medical record after 1st November 2022.
If you have SystmOnline access, you will be able to see some of your medical record through SystmOnline without needing the NHS App.
If you do not already have the NHS App or SystmOnline, you can contact your Reception team to get access.
Our practice is not yet ready for our patients to be able to view GP consultations, test results and hospital letters due to risk/safety issues. You can still make an application for online access in the usual way and you can request a copy of your medical record through the usual routes. The practice will issue an update as soon as the risk / safety issues have been resolved.
Remember, Don’t share your login. Anyone with your login details will be able to see detailed information about your health.
If someone pressures you to let them see your health information or have your login details, tell the surgery. We can hide parts of your medical record, or hide all of it.
Online Access doesn’t provide a view of everything. For a copy of your whole record, you can request this from the practice.

Research Ready
Our practice is research active.
All NHS organisations are expected to participate and support health and care research.
Conducting high-quality clinical research helps us to keep improving NHS care by finding out which treatments work best.
If you are asked about taking part in research, usually someone in the care team looking after you will contact you. People in your care team may look at your health records to check whether you are suitable to take part in a research study, before asking you whether you are interested or sending you a letter on behalf of the researcher.
